OVERVIEW OF SAGAMOK DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION
The origins of Saulteaux Enterprises date back to the federally for-profit corporation, 3310302. This corporation operated as the primary economic development and employment agency. Saulteaux Enterprises was established in March of 2000, as a not-for-profit corporation without share capital.
In October of 2009, the Board of Directors made an application to change the corporate name from Saulteaux Enterprises to Sagamok Development Corporation while varying the letters patent to reflect a vision toward a more collaborative approach consistent with community based strategies to realize benefits to Sagamok members as well as Sagamok Anishnawbek with a focus of fostering business and employment opportunities.
The application for a change in name process was approved as of August 9, 2010. A new logo had been approved and digitized in September 2010 reflecting the new name, the eagle similar to that of Sagamok Anishnawbek and within the symbol of a dreamcatcher complete with seven colours representative of the seven grandfather teachings.
